Graphite and ink convey the broad range of emotions I feel while grappling with existing as both a conservationist and a consumer within this destructive culture. Pencil and pen can be bold and dynamic as well as soft and delicate. This juxtaposition lends itself well to conveying the complexity of ecology itself, as well as modern man’s duplicitous and disjointed relationship with the natural world.

These illustrations depict tattered wildlife go about their lives surviving–and sometimes thriving–in the brave new world humanity has altered, rugged but resilient as they fly, crawl, flutter, and swim across the page.
