Hi! I’m Jenn.

As a naturalist, illustrator, & writer, I combine my experience in science and art to inspire deep connection with the natural world. Through  immersive visual storytelling based on my extensive self-guided research in the field, I strive to communicate the satisfaction and personal growth that comes from a life spent in tune with the wild world around us.

I currently live in Portland, Oregon and graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Conservation Biology. After university I worked with Portland Audubon as an environmental educator and wildlife rehabilitator. Between 2018 and 2022 I took 345 hikes (yes, I kept a list) all over the west coast of the United States with my loyal senior pup Charlie. The extensive hands-on experience working outdoors, with wildlife, and solo hiking during these years formed the foundation that my creative work has bloomed from ever since.

Drawing from the fields of science education and visual art, I embrace the spirit of classic naturalism through modern design to inform, inspire, and cultivate respect for life in all its varied  forms. Over the years I have had the privilege of working with clients on projects ranging from drawing personal pet and wildlife portraits to designing band album art to illustrating pop culture-inspired fine art pieces. While I primarily work in graphite and watercolor, I am always curious to play with new materials and expand my skillset.

“The truth is that nature-study is more than a science; it is not merely a study of life, but an experience of life.”  – Anna Botsford Comstock
